Go to management and tell them what you told us.
Most of those in management didn’t get there by being the right person for the job. They got there by sucking up to the right people and that’s just how it’s always been. They are biased for or against you based on who influences them.
Just do well what you do and you will sleep well at night. These things always work themselves out.
